Labour Deputy Minister iNkosi Holomisa to officially launch a self-help service for work-seekers in Richards Bay

Labour Deputy Minister iNkosi Phathekile Holomisa will on Thursday (04 December 2014) launch a new service channel to the citizens of Richards Bay and surrounding areas where citizens can register as work-seekers, search employment and training opportunities provided by employers.
In addition to providing service to the job search, the self-help kiosk will also allow citizens to apply for their unemployment benefits online and also access the services of the Compensation Fund.

The self-help kiosks is one of the Department’s initiative to improve public service delivery by supporting the transformation of the labour centres into a citizen-orientated organisation that is able to deliver against the needs and expectations of the people.
The launch of self-help kiosks facility will be held at the uMhlathuze Local Municipality, which is a few metres away from the department’s Labour Centre in Richards Bay. The event will start at 10am.

The self-help kiosks launch in areas of Uthungulu District Municipality is one of many the Department is planning to roll-out in the near future. The initiative will advance the Department of Labour’s mandate to set-up the largest Public employment service which will be free to both employers and potential job seekers.
Expected to share the stage with Holomisa during the launch will be the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, and councillors from the uMhlathuze Municipality, labour social partners from organisations such as NACTU, FEDUSA and COSATU; and business.
